Zakopane is a resort town in southern Poland, at the base of the Tatras Mountains. It's a popular destination for winter sports and summertime mountain climbing and hiking.
Zakopane lies near the border of Slovakia, in the valley between the Tatra mountains and Gubałówka Hill. It can be reached by train or bus from Krakow, which is about a two hours drive.
